What to Do When You're Feeling Lost

Hi Dreamers

I hope you are having a gorgeous summer. To be honest with you, I’m not really having that great of a week.

A new documentary project I was really looking forward to fell through, and our slow summer sales have me looking on craigslist for dog walking jobs in Park Slope to make extra money.

Being an entrepreneur continues to be on of the most challenging experiences of my life, and these lows and highs are all part of what makes it, as Nur-E says in her episode of Your Moment of Ambition, “addicting.”

We get up everyday with uncertainty in our bellies and a fire in our heart. And when I’m feeling lost or uncertain there is one thing I always do to re-center myself, and that’s to close my eyes, be still for a few moments and to focus on my “why”— why I need to connect with people through my art, work for myself, and goddess-willing make more movies.

My “why” is simple. It goes back to a moment I had when I was 16 years old in Buffalo, New York. But instead of just reading about it, I’d like to share that story with you in a video teaser for my new Feminist Wednesday series called “A Gal’s Guide to Making a Movie.”

A Gal’s Guide has been a creative outlet for me to connect and share all the big emotional moments of making Dream, Girl- from meeting Komal, to pitching our first angel investor, to working with an all-female crew. There are 21 articles to dive into on Feminist Wednesday, but like all stories it’s best to start at the beginning.

So check out Part One: The Idea to learn about how my love for filmmaking started and more importantly hear the story behind my “why”.

Once you’ve watched our video teaser for “A Gal’s Guide to Making a Movie” make sure to check out the rest of the series on my blog FeministWednesday.com

Now I’d love to hear from you.

What’s your “why”? What lights you up, and adds fuel to your fire? What keeps you motivated and inspired? Join the conversation in our facebook group to be part of the discussion.

Lots of love, dreamers-

Xx,

Erin
